Orford Castle
Orford Castle is a great place to visit with a family. It is a well-preserved castle that is full of history and interesting things to see. The castle is located in a beautiful setting overlooking the sea, and there are plenty of places to explore both inside and outside the castle walls. One of the best things about Orford Castle is that it is not usually crowded. This means that you can take your time exploring the castle and not feel rushed. There are also plenty of activities to keep the kids entertained, such as the castle's audio tour and the children's activity trail. If you are looking for a family-friendly day out, I highly recommend visiting Orford Castle. It is a great place to learn about history and enjoy the outdoors.

Tower of London
This is a beautiful site to see. This is where the Crown Jewels are held and was a big fortress!! I mostly came here just to see the Crown Jewels, even though some of them were out due to the Coronation of Charles III, but this place was an amazing place to visit. But this use to be, and still is, a military fortress. A little fun fact, during WWI, the Tower of London did military training, even though it was still open to the public visiting the place. I just find that extremely interesting. The Tower of London is one staple of London history, British history, and Royal history. The The Royal Family has their Crowned Jewels here where you can see them on display. Dating back to 1066, but made famous by William I (William the Conqueror) when he moved here in 1078. Kings William I (William the Conqueror), King Henry III, and King Richard I were living here at one point all adding to the historical site. The Tower of London has been a fortress for the majority of its time, but I found interesting is that it was used as a prison until WWII, with soldiers training here with the prisoners on a different side of the site. You can go see the Crowned Jewels here, which were amazing to see (there's no photography while seeing the Crowned Jewels). I truly enjoy walking the grounds here and seeing some of the Crowned Jewels the British Royal Family has to offer.

Pickering Castle
Visited Pickering, had a trip on the steam engine then a walk up to Pickering Castle. Like most English Heritage properties its mostly a ruin, however there are some good elements remaining such as a couple of towers and the newer built Chapel, which was converted into a courthouse. Fascinating to find out the original structure was built by William the Conqueror in around 1069.If you are in the area, it's worth a visit, guide book was reasonably priced and very informative.

St Catherine's Castle
Small castle with a hike up from the beach. Site says there is parking nearby, but there's definitely not so don't trust the site.It is a beautiful hike up from the beach and the water is SO clear! Great views and a nice short visit.

Hatley Castle
Exploring the grounds (and the university grounds) is free, but guided tours are $24. They have about five tours daily—check the website. We only checked out the grounds and rode our bikes around, but the area is lovely. The nearby bird sanctuary nearby is also a fun visit if you feel so inclined.

Hatley Castle
A very lovely castle with beautiful gardens and hiking paths. Free admission to the gardens, castle interior is NOT open to the public(unless you book a tour). Cute peacocks roaming the grounds. A great place to visit, be prepared for lots of walking.
